Unlike corporate media, Community Radio follows a different set of "rules". We have to follow the same laws as defined by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission), with some varying parts when it comes to advertising - (We aren't allowed to sell advertising). But the rules about what is "acceptable programming" are much broader than what you hear on commercial radio.

Community radio showcases local content and alternative voices that are otherwise not provided by commercial radio, catering to the needs and interests of local communities, particularly in underserved regional and remote areas. As a NAPAC Member, you help to support local media, while developing new talent that otherwise would not be heard.

Our community already has commercial radio stations that play various styles of Country and "Soft Rock" music, and one that covers sports. They are all owned by out-of-state broadcast companies.

KBHQ-FM is both locally owned and operated, and is music intensive with local news and information. It's the ONLY station in town that plays Classic Rock from the 1960's through Today's Top-40 in Rock and Metal. Different strokes for different folks!

NAPAC works with virtually ALL GENRES! Country, Blues, Folk, Jazz, Gospel and Christian performers from all over the world are clamoring to be heard, and your support helps NAPAC make that a reality!

NAPAC Members also support our ability to help other nonprofits! Smaller organizatons that do HUGE works are not always represented the same as the bigger groups, and with the help of KBHQ-FM, NAPAC develops fundraisers and awareness campaigns to help other local groups and agencies accomplish their missions.

And as a member, you have the ability of shaping conversations in the community. Many times, people have questions or concerns about what happens in their hometown, and don't know where to go. Community Radio provides that outlet! Your voice can speak opinions on different topics, ask questions about what matters to you, and make a REAL impact on what happens in our community!
